Greenwich Ragtime is an exciting four piece band from London who reinterpret traditional American vocal jazz from the 1920s. With an eye for history and tradition, they play good-time music from an era when jazz was meant for dancing and revelry! Ffion Aynsley provides the vocals with a strong bluesy bent, in the style of Bessie Smith, Mamie Smith and Sophie Tucker, and switches between washboard and stride piano for accompaniment. The hot jazz sound is completed by driving rhythm guitar, various reeds, and basslines from an authentic 1935 King “Monster” rotary tuba.

Ffion Aynsley: vocals, washboard and piano
Robert Fish: clarinet and saxophones
Jake Maun: guitar
Casper Hoedemaekers: tuba

Running time: 2 x 30 minutes, starting at 7pm, finishing around 8.30pm
