Opera della Luna presents the first professional UK production of an
enchanting operetta by Johann Strauss; a story of political intrigue, royal
adultery, and a bullfight.
Das Spitzentuch der Konigin was a huge success in Vienna and New York
in the 1880s but was never presented in London. Many of its tunes are now well-known to us,
as Strauss later re-used them in his famous orchestral waltzes. ‘Roses of the
South’ is just one of the many well-loved melodies contained within the show’s
sparkling score. Opera della Luna return to Wilton’s Music Hall following sell-out
performances of Tales of Offenbach
last year.

It is rare to see artistic means matched so perfectly to dramatic ends, and even rarer for it to be this much fun
