THE MIKADO

2023 Offie Nominations for Opera Production and Opera Performance - Ensemble

'A refreshing and creative take on a classic, complete with impeccable vocal talent'
★★★★★ Everything Theatre

Sasha Regan’s award-winning all-male Gilbert & Sullivan stars are pitching their tents at Wilton’s Music Hall for THE MIKADO from 7th June – 1st July.  Expect plenty of cheer and tuneful earworms from a sensational cast singing all the familiar rollicking G&S classics including: “A Wand’ring Minstrel, I”; “Behold the Lord High Executioner!”, and “Three Little Maids From School Are We”.

Sasha Regan’s inventive production transports the action to 1950s England where an all-boys’ school camping trip is visiting the land of Titipu.  Topsy-turvy capers follow when the son of the Mikado flees his father’s imperial court and falls in love with Miss Violet Plumb who is betrothed to the Lord High Executioner…but will heads roll? Find out this summer.

Gilbert & Sullivan’s inherent humour, satire on the English establishment and timeless tunefulness are married with Regan’s wicked sense of fun. The perfect uplifting tonic. Unmissable, toe-wiggling fun.

The all-male The Mikado last toured in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim.  It arrives at Wilton’s hot-on-the-heels of Sasha Regan’s recent smash hit all-male H.M.S. Pinafore, and her award-winning The Pirates of Penzance which toured the UK and Australia. Regan's other widely acclaimed G&S hits include Patience (CRITICS CHOICE) and the Iolanthe (CRITICS CHOICE & TIME OUT’s top 10 musicals).

Runs from 7th June – 1st July
